REIKI (ray-key) is Universal Life Force. This life force energy is used to promote the natural healing of the body by balancing and harmonising the energy centers (chakras). Reiki Attunement Classes open the student's energy center to channel Reiki  (Universal Life Force Energy) from the Universe through the Crown Chakra and out through the hands. Once attuned, the Reiki is channeled for an individual's life time to use.
Reiki Ist Degree
The attunement to Reiki (Universal Life Force) is a Wholistic process. During class, the Reiki Master initiates the student to Reiki and the palm chakras are opened. The Student will be a channel for Reiki energy for life. After the attunement, ample time is provided to practice giving treatments. The student then becomes a Reiki Practitioner.
Reiki
The student is attuned and receives
Sacred Symbols:
A Power Symbol, a Mental/Emotional Symbol and a Distant Symbol. The distant symbol empowers a student to give a Reiki treatment at a distance. It also permits Reiki to be sent into the past to soften a situation in the present. One may send Reiki to an important meeting or job interview to meet you when you get there. Time and space do not limit the use of Reiki.
Reiki Master 3rd Degree
The Reiki III Master Level attunes the student to pass the attunement process on to others. The Reiki III Master Level may be obtained solely for self spiritual progression.
Reiki can be received by anyone with a sincere desire for physical, mental, spiritual and emotional health. It is simple, it is practical, it does not require any level of intellect or special accademic trates.Once Initiation to Reiki is a life long gift to self and others in your life.

Reiki is an ancient form of 'hands on' healing which treats mind, heart, body and spirit. The technique is passed on from teacher to student through individual or group work initiation. Many people find initiation into Reiki a powerful transformative experience.

The workshops and attunement include clearings and initiations and the teaching of healing and self-healing techniques are learned . Meditation and the use of tools such as drums, singing bowls and other Mystical elements are an integral part of initiation
There are 4 main types of "ki". They are:

1)   The essential or pre-natal "ki". This is transmitted to you from your parents. It is unique and has a life-span;

2)   The heavenly or post-natal "ki". This is obtained from the atmosphere e.g. fresh air, sunlight etc. This is replenishable.

3)   Nutritional "ki". This can be obtained from the food we eat. It is also replenishable.

4)   Reiki is "ki" from the Universe which is permanent.  you can receive it through attunement from a Certified Reiki Master who have sufficient experience.

An Attunement awakens the inner being and healing power of a person. This technique is performed by a Certified Reiki Master who harnesses the energy from the universe and clears adverse energies from the 7 chakras (energy centres). After attunement, the body undergoes a 21-day cleansing cycle where blockages and toxins are eliminated. Drink plenty of water and give yourself the gift a full Reiki treatment. During the attunement, some people experience tingling or pulsing sensation; others feel warmth or cool breeze in their palms and spine. After Attunement or healing, the growth and potential of a person are accelerated. Many people experienced transformation and change for the better in the first stages..

       HEALER HEAL THYSELF

This is not a part of the traditional or modern reiki. But as a spiritual practitioner you may like to know its basics and importance.

One of the most secret and sacred of all yoga practices RAJA YOGA deals with the awakening of the mysterious power of kundalini or the serpent power. It is very dangerous to attempt and accomplish this without the help of a Guide.

The universal life force energy or prana is the energy which exists in fluidic form in the atmosphere- and is present in everything that lives, from amoeba to man. The air water plants minerals food, all are made with
this life substance and is the source of all life energy, vitality and power. Prana circulates in our body through a network of special channel called nadis. The nadis are distributed in our aura just like veins and nerves run through the physical body. The existence of prana was known not only to the yogis of India but also to the ancient occult schools of the Egyptians, Tibetans and the Chinese.

Kundalini energy is situated at the Mooladhara, [at the base of the spine]. This is the real "occult" center of the body because it encloses the secret dormant energy called Kundalini which is symbolized by a snake coiled three and a half times. [Compare it with the power symbol of reiki- Cho Ku rei.]

According Rajayoga there are three important nadis. They are sushumna, Ida and pingala. Sushumna is the chief nadi located inside the spinal cord with ida and pingala spiraling on either side. Taking root in the lowest center of cosmic energy Mooladhara or the basic chakra , it extends to the highest center situated in the top of the head , The Sahasrara chakra or the Crown chakra.

By Rajayoga practice, or by other techniques like Kriya yoga, when the Kundalini power is awakened, it passes from the lowest chakra [The mooladhara] to the highest chakra[Crown] through the sushumna by spinning or activating all the upper chakra in its route. At this time the yogi reaches his goal ie: the divine joining of spirit and matter takes place. The is also called the joining of Siva Sakthi. At this point mans individual consciousness unites with the universal consciousness. Mikao- Usui experienced a similar state of bliss at Mount Kurayamo. In India we had hundreds of known and unknown yogis who reached this stage, like Buddha, SreeRamakrishnaparamahamsa ,Lahirimahasaya, Ramanamaharshi, Sree Chattambiswamikal and so on.

INTRODUCTION

REIKI a Japanese technique for self-realization and healing was developed by Mikao-Usui Sensei a Buddhist monk, born in the year 1860. Before the development of this technique he went to Tibet and to India and learned Padmasutra [Lotus sutra] written by one of the disciples of Sree Buddha. He got all theoretical knowledge about an energy work, which Sree Buddha performed, from this book and performed a 21 days meditation and fasting in Mount kuriyamo in Japan. At the end of his meditation he got divine power, which helped him to heal himself and heal others. Later he taught a number of people this technique of energy work, which is now called as REIKI.

Reiki is a wonderful spiritual practice that in its original form was an enlightenment producing system that allowed a person to heal and to heal others. Reiki is a secular enlightenment system of personal transformation. Reiki allows you to heal self and others by laying on hands. Reiki energy is so smooth and powerful that you can use it for different purposes. Surely the constant use of reiki will help you to reach self-realization or god consciousness. You can use it in plants, in animals and reiki can help you to solve even your personal problems of the day today life.

Reiki is very easy to learn and easy to use, and anyone can do it. Reiki Healing is a process of being connected to the Reiki Energy through a reiki attunement. Healing is done either hands on, or by distance work. Reiki is pronounced, "ray-key". The word "Reiki" is made up of two separate kanji. "Rei", which means Universal and "Ki" which is spirit, energy or life force. It is life force energy that animates all life. This is the same thing, which the people in India called as Prana. There are other healing arts that use ki. Chi Kung (Qi Gong), Ki Ko, and a number of Tibetan arts - all use the universal life force of Ki in their healing.

Now there are different schools of reiki in the world. [All came from the same system]. Some people have developed new techniques of energy work and added it to the traditional reiki. And that is how we have Traditional reiki, Modern reiki, Tera-Mai reiki, Karuna reiki, Golden reiki, New age reiki and so on.

History of Reiki

This reiki story comes from Takatas teachings. The traditional reiki story is that Dr. Usui was a teacher in a Christian college called Doshisha in Kyoto in the last 1800's. One day his students asked him if he believed that Jesus' could heal as in the bible. When he replied that he did, they asked him to show such healing. Dr. Usui did not know how to heal. So he set out on a quest to learn of these methods. He traveled through Japan, China, and Tibet and studied at the of Chicago Divinity School and eventually came back to Japan. But Usui had failed to find this technique of healing and so Dr. Usui climbed Mt. Kurama for a 21-day meditation. At the end of the 21 days, he saw a great light approaching him from the sky. The light struck him in the forehead (third eye). This knocked him unconscious, but upon awakening, he saw millions of small glowing bubbles and the Reiki symbols. He went back and Usui was then supposed to have healed his toe on the way down the mountain, as well as a girl with reiki.

He began his reiki healing work by healing beggars in the slums of Kyoto. He found that those that he had healed would return again for treatment of the same illnesses. Usui found that many of these people held their illnesses and disease because they served them as useful. These people preferred to live with their illness because they were cared for by others, and various other reasons. It was then Usui felt that reiki treatment must include not only the physical, but also the emotional and spiritual. Usui also decided not to do reiki for free after this, and that some form of energy exchange must occur.

In the Western tradition, it is commonly thought that Usui, passed on the lineage to Dr. Chujiro Hayashi a naval officer. Dr. Chujiro Hayashi was attuned as a Reiki Master by Usui in 1925 . One of Hayashi's student was an American woman, Mrs. Hawayo Takata. She was the thirteenth reiki master initiated by Dr. Hayashi. Her certificate, notarized on February 21, 1938 gave her the status of a Reiki Master and authorized her to teach the reiki system. Mrs. Takata initiated 22 reiki masters. Most of these 22 reiki masters are alive and still practicing and teaching Reiki today.

New story:

Recently Frank Arjava Petter, a reiki master after his studies in Japan has revealed another story regarding Dr. Usui and the discovery of Reiki. According to him Mikao Usui was born August 15th, 1865 in the Yamagata district, in a village called Yago. Usui studied Buddhism at the school as a child. It is also thought that he may have studied a Japanese form of Chi Kung and other oriental healing systems. Usui was a successful businessman. Somewhere around 1914 he went to meditate at Mt. Kurama, and underwent a 21-day period of meditation and fasting. During this 21 day meditation the Reiki Energy entered his crown chakra. He discovered that he had received a great gift of healing. He opened a reiki school in Tokyo, where he trained students in his Usui Shiki Reiki Ryoho [Usui System Of Natural Healing]. It is thought that he trained about 2000 students to the reiki practitioner levels and sixteen to reiki teacher level. He died on March 9, 1926.

Usui himself founded a Reiki Society. Mikao Usui was the first President of the organization which he called Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai. There have been six presidents of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai since Usui's death. None of them were Dr. Hayashi. None of them called themselves "Grand master" or lineage bearer. Usui was succeeded in order by Mr. Ushida, Mr. Takatome. Mr. Wantanabe, Mr. Wanami, Mrs.Koyama, and the current President Mr. Kondo.

Present Scene

After the death of Mrs. Takata, Reiki in America split into two main schools. They are the Radiance Technique founded by Barbara Weber Ray, and the Reiki Alliance founded by Phyllis Lei Furumoto-Takata's grand daughter. Phyllis began to claim as time went on, that she was now the "Grand master and Lineage Bearer" of Reiki. Reiki has evolved substantially since the time of Takata's death in the western world. Reiki has spread throughout the United States and Europe, and India. Many reiki masters have added or taken away some techniques and modified the reiki teachings. Some have added Tibetan Techniques, Chi Kung, New Symbols and whole new styles have been created. The vast majority of reiki practitioners are Independent Reiki Masters.

NATURE OF REIKI

The most important feature of reiki is its teaching method. Actually reiki is not taught in the way other healing techniques are taught. Other techniques require years of hard work and constant training. Reiki is very simple to learn and easy to practice because reiki is not taught but is transferred. The process of transferring reiki energy is called reiki attunement or initiation. With the help of reiki energy and sacred reiki symbols and mantras, a reiki master will open the energy flowing channels in the initiate [which is called nadis in yoga.]. Once the initiate has received their four reiki attunements they are connected to the source of the Reiki energy for life. The beauty of this system is that even if the initiate does not use this gift on a regular basis it is always there to be re accessed whenever the initiate chooses.

How does reiki heal?

We are alive because the life force is flowing through us. Life force flows through pathways called Chakras[energy centers in the aura] meridians and nadis. Life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When this flow of life force is disrupted, it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body. Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. Reiki clears straightens and heals the energy channels thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.

Everything in our universe is made up entirely of energy. Light is energy, our emotions are energy, our thoughts are energy, and even our physical bodies and the physical world surrounding us are energy. When we keep that in mind it will be easier to understand how the healing energy of Reiki works. Our body is not only the physical body that we observe; we are made of energy and the physical body is the part of us that we can see. We are not a physical body that also has an energy field around and inside it; we are beings of energy, with energy fields that we normally can not see, and a physical body (a dense form of energy) as a part of the whole body. Besides the energy that we obtain through eating, drinking and breathing, we also obtain energy through are energy fields.

Reiki works on the energetic level. Most healing methods nowadays work only on the physical level, but Reiki works on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels. Our body is a complex system with different levels interacting with each other. If a treatment is done that only works on one level, the healing is not complete. True healing must be done at all levels, and that is what Reiki does. If healing is only done on the physical level temporary results can be obtained, but the underlying cause is not treated. Reiki balances on all levels where our energy flows are blocked. Reiki helps to release underlying thoughts and emotions that caused the disease, and it heals the physical symptoms of the disease.

Reiki can be used to treat your food. Treat it with reiki during the preparation, cooking process, or when you sit down to eat. Just place your hand over the food and direct the reiki energy into the food. You can treat your medications also. Reiki is thought to help increase their efficacy so they work for your highest good and minimize side effects.

Reiki Classes

Reiki Level I- is taught to those that wish to learn to use the Reiki Energy. There are four various reiki attunements for conferring the Reiki energy on a student. Level I generally includes the Reiki Principles, the hand positions, Reiki History, a simple meditation technique and four Reiki attunements. After the 1st degree reiki attunements, you will be able to use it in yours and in others.

Level II - Reiki Level II- teaches the three Reiki Symbols and the student is given another reiki attunement also. Some conceptualize Reiki Level II as being a deepening of the Reiki experience and a greater commitment to Reiki. The Power Symbol, Mental/Emotional Healing Symbol and the Distant Symbol, their meanings and applications are taught along with Zen Buddhist meditation technique.

Level III A (Master Level)- is the Master Level of Reiki. The Usui Master Symbol is taught in this level. The Usui Master Symbol completes the other three reiki symbols taught at Level II. Some of the techniques that are included here are: Reiki Meditation, using the symbols for problem solving and for manifesting goals, the Tibetan Antahkarana symbol and a meditation for its use etc.

Traditional Reiki Master Degree- This Reiki level empowers the Master healer to pass on reiki attunement up to the third degree level.

Traditional Reiki Master Teacher- This Reiki level is offered to those outstanding masters who have put in a minimum of one year practice as master and have completed at least 250 reiki attunements.

What is a reiki Attunement?

Attunement is the most important part of the usui method of natural healing. It is a series of initiations where in a Reiki master using reiki Symbols and reiki Mantras transmits reiki energy to the students in an amplified state. The reiki energy opens a channel for cosmic energy to flow in from the top of the students head through the upper energy centers and out through the hands. The reiki attunement is a holy thing and can only be performed by a reiki master. This process is guided by the Rei or God consciousness and makes adjustments in the process depending on the needs of each reiki student.

The five reiki principles

Don't get angry :
Anger is the result of being out of control. When you get angry, become aware of your reactions and also feel thankful for having got an opportunity to look at your weakness. Anger is a sign that you are trying to swim against the natural current of events. When anger comes acknowledge it, observe it and in doing so let it go forever. Give reiki on your heart and solar chakra. Also use reiki 2nd symbol.

Don't worry
Worry results from a feeling of separateness from the universal wholeness. Try not to interfere with the universal timings in life. We worry that things might turnout differently from what we expected, and consider only our own advantage. Live every day to the best of your ability and every things else will be taken care of.

Be grateful:
Always feel thankful for what we have as well as what we know will constantly be provided. Our normal state is that of abundance. Daily give atleast 15 minutes reiki to earth.

Work hard :
To be honest with oneself is to face truth in all things. Truth brings clarity. Honesty with yourself will project honesty on to others.

Be kind to others:
We are all of one source and are independent. To show love and respect to all others is to love and respect ourselves and all beings of earth.

CHAKRAS

Chakras are energy centers in the energy body. The cant be seen with naked eye [but their existence can be understood by using kirlian camera and by scanning the aura using your hands]. Following are the important functions of a chakra.

1. To vitalize the energy body as well as the physical body.
2. To develop different aspects of self-consciousness.
3. To receive and transmits energy etc.

According to Rajayoga there are 7 major chakras in the energy body.

They are

1.Mooladhara chakra:[Basic chakra]

It is situated at the base of the spine. This is the real occult center of the body because it encloses the secret Kundalini energy.

2.Swadisthana:[Sex chakra]

This is situated opposite the genital organs. It controls sexual desires and corresponds to the epigastric plexus.

3.Manipuraka chakra:[Naval chakra]

This is opposite naval and is concerned with digestive functions. Its counter part is solar plexus.

4.Anahatha [heart]

This is at the level of the heart. It controls respiration and corresponds to the cardiac plexus.

5.Visudhi chakra[ throat]

It is located behind the throat and controls the speech and corresponds the pharyngeal plexus.

6.Ajna chakra

This is located between the eyebrows and controls the autonomous nervous system and corresponds to pineal gland. It is the seat of the third eye of Siva. At this place the IDA, PINGALA and SUSHUMNA and meets and is hence called TRIVENI.

7.Sahasrara [crown chakra]

This is the seventh and the last chakra and it corresponds to the cortical layer in the brain. It is also called thousand petalled-lotus.

CHAKRA Related Endocrine Gland Color

Basic Adrenals Red
Sex Gonads Orange
Solar plexus Pancreas Yellow
Heart Thymus Green/Pink
Throat Thyroid Blue
Ajna Pituitary Indigo
Crown Pineal Violet/white

All the chakra have a certain number of petals ranging from 2 to 16. Crown chakra has 1000 petals. Each chakra is also associated with certain Sanskrit letters and sounds. This letters and sounds are the foundation on which the ancient Hindu "Thantra Sastra" was developed. When a person constantly repeat a mantra [the holy word], it will vibrate the aura and then the charkas. This vibration can cause the upward movement of Kundalini.

CHAKRA BALANCING.

All of the chakras are of equal importance. Upper chakras have spiritual importance and lower chakras relate to earth element. For balancing chakras, a reiki full body treatment can be used.

Invoke reiki and place your left hand on the ajna chakra of the patient, and right hand on the basic chakra. Give reiki for some time. Move both hands upward and downward to feel the chakras and then keep both hands at same height and mentally ask to balance chakra. Then move your left hand to throat chakra and the right hand to solar plexus. Move your hands upward and down ward and ask chakras to balance.

Now move your both hands to heart chakra, give reiki and say- " your chakras are perfectly balanced now."

ENERGY EXCHANGE.
After his experience with beggars in Kyoto, Usui learned that 'there must be an exchange of energy for the healers time.' By just giving away reiki healing, a reiki healer is creating a feeling of debt in the receiver. People need to give back for what they received in order to fully appreciate what they received.

1st Degree Reiki
In order to work with reiki energy it is absolutely necessary to receive 4 reiki attunements in the first degree from a reiki master. Reiki attunements are the very core of reiki, which may be described as a series of initiations where in a reiki master using a very ancient technology transmits reiki energy to students. The energy acts in such a way that it creates an open channel for cosmic energy to flow in from the top of the students head through the upper energy centers and out through the hands. In addition the vibratory rate of the body is also amplified.

Regular contacts with reiki enhances creativity and along with it the active expression of self. A new vitality can be felt as reiki energy infuses your entire life. Reiki relaxes all part of your entire body, which it is allowed to enter. Relaxation is followed by stimulation of metabolism as a new vitality flows in to the organs. All of a sudden the detoxification process become revitalized and are subsequently capable of eliminating old waste products, while preventing the accumulation of new ones. In this way more and more areas pf the body are opened to the reiki .

Reiki whole body Treatment
1. Remove jewelry, precious stones and other all objects built with metal.
2. Wash your hands.
3. Mentally ask god to protect you and call reiki, reiki angels and all others to come and help you in this healing.
4. Clean the clients aura using reiki by moving your hand from head to toe of your client, around 6 inches above his physical body. Do this for around 3 minutes on front and back of your client. It will help to clean his aura and make his aura bright and powerful. Start giving reiki on all points .
5. Take more time on the main charkas.
6. Repeat step 4.
7. Finally thank your client, reiki and the god.
8. Now wash your hands thoroughly using salt water.

The possibilities of second Degree reiki
Second degree reiki implies an amplification of your capacities on all levels[ie physical, mental, emotional and spiritual]. Second degree reiki is accompanied by a great degree of power. You will be given three reiki symbols , mantras and their method of application. Only a person who gets a 2nd degree reiki attunement from a reiki master should have access to the reiki symbols and techniques that are part of it. The flow of reiki energy can be increased about 15 to 20 times with the help of the 1st reiki symbol. It will help you to clean the objects more easily. The reiki healing sessions become shorter and the effect increases.

Using the second reiki symbol, reiki can be directed to a more subconscious level. Karmic problems, fears, addiction to smoking, alcohol etc and other mental disorders will be affected positively.

The third reiki symbol can be used to send reiki to any place , & person across distance at any time.

If you are a second degree reiki practitioner, always use the reiki symbols when you give reiki to yourself. Draw them mentally on each chakra and visualize it. Think it as a very bright white light and see the white reiki energy coming from it and spreading allover.

You can also use OHM. [remember it is not e reiki symbol]. You don't need an attunement for OHM. We the people in Kerala are using it for thousands of years even before the VEDIC AGES. It has so much power and importance that in every mantra and in every tantric rituals, we use OHM. Ohm is a very powerful and divine symbol and always use it in its original Sanskrit version, with true respect.

Advanced spiritual practitioners and clairvoyants have observed that whenever you draw OHM, an energy immediately starts flowing from it. Swami Vivekanada said - "you can achieve god realization by simply chanting OHM'. So whenever you meditate and perform self-healing, use OHM. Always visualize it in golden color.

Chanting the holy Dhanwanthary manthra [manthra of the lord dhanwanthary - the healer] at the time of giving reiki in treatments can also make miracles. Just check these things and see the results.

REIKI- Symbols

Reiki symbols are sacred and secret. It is a part of the reiki tradition that they are kept confidential. They are only revealed to those who have taken second degree reiki and received the reiki attunement that empowers them. The reiki attunement actually empowers the reiki symbols so that they will fulfill their intended purpose. Without a reiki attunement , the reiki symbols do not seem to do much. But after the reiki attunement the effect is definitely there. A person does not have to be in an altered state for the symbols to work. They work automatically, every time they are used. They are like keys that open doors to higher levels of awareness/manifestation.

The reiki symbols must be drawn and used correctly to activate them. Reiki symbols have their own consciousness so it is possible to meditate on them, and receive guidance on how to use them directly from the reiki symbols themselves. You can discover new uses to these reiki symbols by simply meditating on them and seeking guidance.

If you have second degree in reiki, it is recommended that you do this preparation before you do any reiki healing work.

1.Call on the reiki masters for assistance. [ I usually do this]

"I call upon the god / goddess and all there is , Usui, Hayashi, Takata and all the universal masters responsible for our evolution and upliftenment, to come and assist me with reiki healing/attunement."

2.Enclose a pyramid around the whole room where the people are healed and then draw reiki symbol #1,#2, & #3 inside each wall, top and bottom of the pyramid.

3.Draw a pyramid over yourself together with reiki symbol #1 inside it. Also draw reiki symbol #1 on the basic, solar, heart, throat, ajna and crown chakra.

4. Cover your palms of both hand with a golden cover and draw reiki symbol #1 on each hand.

Reiki Symbol #1 -- Usage

1. Draw on each palm before healing with reiki.
2. Cleanse the room of negative energy by doing reiki symbol #1, and #2 on the four walls, ceiling, floor and in the air, of each room that you go into.
3. This reiki symbol can be used in front of any other reiki symbol that you want to use for any particular purpose . It will increase the effectiveness of all other reiki symbols.

Reiki Symbol #2 -- Usage

For finding the misplaced items.

Do reiki symbol #2 over your crown and then say the affirmation " I give myself permission to find my lost -------------- within the next 5 minutes."- Say it 3 times.

For memorizing

Hold the book that you want to memorize between your hands and then do reiki symbol #2 over the book and over yourself, then say "I give myself permission to absorb memorize and remember the contents of this book -------------, and will have total recall whenever necessary." Say this 3 times and study the book.

Reiki Symbol #3 - usage.

Beaming

It is possible, using the distant healing reiki symbol, to beam reiki to your clients sitting at a distant place. Just do reiki symbols #1, #3, and #2 and face your palms towards the clients photo [if there is] or visualize the person between your two hands and start giving reiki.

Empower goals.

If your are blocked in the achievement of a particular goal, it usually means there is something that needs to heal before you will be able to achieve it. Write your name and goal on a piece of paper and draw all the three reiki symbols, give reiki on the paper for 30 minutes or more each day. Continue active work to achieve your goal. You will find everything working much better.

Experiment sending reiki to Buddha, Jesus, God, angel's etc. Those who have done this have reported receiving tremendous healing back from these high spirit beings.

Symbol 1-- Cho Ku Rei [ Focus or Power]

Cho ku rei -- is the Usui reiki symbol to increase flow, power and the effect of Reiki . This is said to call in higher universal energy and accelerates Reiki from low to high vibrations and gives greater focus to the reiki energy. Power symbol is used with the other energies as well as by itself during all treatments, hands on or distance. This energy has been used to clear rooms and crystals and to charge food and water, and in manifestation procedures. This symbol is also used as a protective sign.

Symbol 2- SEI- HE -KI [Harmony, Emotional and mental healing ]
This reiki symbol is used to facilitate emotional and mental healing and treating addictions and habits.. Sei He Ki will work on the subconscious level. The mental/emotional-healing symbol helps to balance the right and left sides of the brain, and is often used for healing unwanted habits.

Symbol 3-HON SHA ZE SHO NEN [Connection, Distance Healing]
It is used for sending Reiki to a distant place and will also helps to treat without physical contact.

Symbol 4- Dai Ku Meo

This is the master symbol of reiki. It will be revealed only to a reiki master student. It helps to re attune you to reiki.

Third degree

This is the master degree, and those who are attuned to this level are able to help others become a reiki channel. Many personal process of transformation are connected with the master degree. Takata once said "If you are ready to give up everything to take reiki in to this world , you are ready to become a reiki master."

The 3rd degree attunement again amplifies the vibratory level and activates the master symbol, so it may be used to help others empower themselves.

A word about self-care

Always keep yourself physically and mentally fit. Attend your needs and take care of yourself. Your daily routine must include meditation, exercise, good food, good hygiene, rest and pleasure. Food is essential for the upkeep of the body, but if the quantity is too much or too rich our energies will be kept at the stomach level only. Concentration of blood supply at the stomach level drains it away from the brain and makes it dull.

On the other hand good health is not attainable for a starving man. Swamy Vivekanada used to say-" religion is not for empty stomach. First food and then religion."

With respect to sleep, too much makes a man dull and indulgent. On the other hand too much of keeping vigil may cause us to be sleepy, through out the day. Regulated work also have their place in our normal life. Bad company is one of the most potent causes of mental conflict and disturbance. Right contacts and associations are very important.

Reiki Meditation

Sit facing north. Close your eyes and gaze in between the eye-brows. Keep your hand facing upward on corresponding thighs in chinmudra. Now practice seven rounds of rhythmic breathing.

Inhale 7 counts

Retain 3 counts

Exhale 7 counts

Invoke reiki, reiki angels, your personal guide and god. Seek love and protection from them.
Visualize a disc of bright golden light 6 feet above your head emitting powerful, but smooth golden light. Visualize a pillar of golden light coming to your crown chakra from the golden disc. Let it enter the body through the crown and fill your whole body and rejuvenate the cells. Remain in this light for 30 minutes.

Draw the symbol OHM in front of you and visualize it emitting bright golden color. Lift it with your both hands and deposit it in the pillar of light above your head.

Then draw the symbol # 1, #2, #3, and #4, one by one and lift it to the pillar of light.

Always do some physical exercise after the meditation. Soorya Namaskaram is a very good exercise which helps to keep the body strong and powerful. It also has some spiritual importance. It helps to clean your aura and open the channels. It also helps to equally distribute energy in all parts of your body.

Lack of proper exercise is the main cause for headache and dizziness after meditation, and may damage your physical body in the long run.

Science of Mantra.

All religious disciplines are calculated to give man, the necessary concentration on the divine and ultimately take him to the goal. They cleanse and intensify the faculties of his mind- knowing, feeling, and willing.

A mantra is a sacred word or words. It is a mystic sound symbol of god. Mantra is so called because it is achieved by mental process. 'man'- in mantra is for 'manana'- ie thinking and 'tra' - is for trana, ie liberation from the bondages of the phenomenal world. It was discovered by the saints of ancient India.

Mantras are letters arranged in a definite sequence of sounds of which the letters are the representative signs. The mantra of any devatha [ form of god] is that letter or combination of letters which reveals that devatha to the consciousness of the devotee who has evoked him, by the power of his spiritual practise. Sound precedes the manifestation of form in creation. Since from certain sounds certain forms evolve, every sound is responsible for a particular form.

Mantras are vibrations which posses both constructive and destructive power.

For eg:
Gayathri mantra is used for spiritual up liftenement.
Sudarhana is used for protection from negative energies.
Sree sooktham for wealth.
Dhanwanthary mantra for healing and so on.

Every mantra must be intoned and uttered in the proper sound and rhythm.

How mantras work?
There are different chakras in our energy body. Out of these, 7 chakras are major chakras, because all of them come under the route of Kundalini. Each chakra is associated with certain sounds. [actually now we are using these sounds are Sanskrit letters]. We know that every sound produces a corresponding vibration in the energy field. When a person constantly chant a mantra, that sound will continuously produce a vibration in his energy field. Before a sound comes out through our throat, it was there in the nadis(energy channels) and in nerves. So we can say that a sound first manifest in the energy body and then comes out through the physical body.

The continuous 'japa' (chanting) of a mantra will invoke the corresponding letters in each chakra. The pattern of letters and sound in a Sanskrit mantra can thus create a very similar movement in the chakras. Such a continuous vibration will affect the Kundalini. So by the constant use of a Sanskrit mantra the kundalini energy will start moving and this gives power and the required condition for the person who used it.

Antakarana-The ancient symbol of healing

Alice Bailey and several other authors of Tibetan philosophy have some knowledge of the antakarana and you can find it on a number of books. It is the connection between spiritual brain and the Higher self. This symbol is used by Tibetans and Chinese for thousand of years. It is a powerful symbol, and its presence itself can create positive effect on chakra and aura.

Crystals:

In recent years crystals has become popular in reiki as a tool. It helps to amplify and direct reiki energies. A crystal is a geometrically formed fused mineral or substance. There are many ways that crystals can be used with reiki. A first degree reiki student can program a crystal with reiki by holding it between the hands and charging it with reiki. A second degree reiki practitioner can program the crystal with reiki symbols to amplify energies. It helps to further activate the crystal to a higher frequency. You should find a crystal which resonates with your energy field. The color, size, shape and type are important factors in crystal selection for reiki. Always use your intuition.

After purchasing, clean it with salt water and keep it in sunlight for three days. Also expose it to moon. Then charge it with reiki [ using 1st and 2nd reiki symbols]. Now you can use it for your own, or your patients health. Hold it over the body and guide the reiki energy to the body. Visualize reiki flowing through it.

Recharge crystals using reiki regularly.

Reiki and medicine.

Always keep in mind- reiki is not a substitute for medicine. It is absolute foolishness to ignore the power of modern medicine.Reiki increases detoxification of body. It is best for the reiki practitioner to work with a doctor [ie both together.] If the doctor knows that a persons body is coming in to a better condition then he can reduce the medicine accordingly. Reiki never interact with medicine adversely.

RAJAYOGA

Reiki is not a part of Rajayoga. But the constant practice of rajayoga technique can help you in your healing work, and in your spiritual life. In India we have different types of yoga techniques. Rajayoga stands at the top. That is why it is called as the "Royal Yoga"[ raja means king.]

The system of rajayoga existed in India from ancient times. The highest authority in raja yoga is the ancient sage Pathanjali., who contributed the famous Yoga sutras.--Yoga Aphorism.

According to rajayoga the obstructions to perfection are fundamentally the agitations within the mind. These are called "CHITHA VRITHIS". [ chitha means mind stuff and vrithi means waves upon it]. By controlling the activities of the mind and by keeping it calm, a Yogi( one who practise yoga) is able to control the inner nature.

Perfection in rajayoga includes 8 steps. You should always try to keep this 'laws' because it is must for a 'yogi and' is very good for a reiki practitioner.

1.YAMA
2.NIYAMA
3.ASANA
4.PRANAYAMA
5.PRATYAHARA
6.DHARANA
7.DHYANA
8.MEDITATION

When a person constantly practice these yoga techniques he reaches the stage called SAMADHI ( God realization).

Yama: include the observance of non injury, truth, non stealing, continence and the non receiving of obligatory gifts.

Niyama: include cleanliness, contentment, self discipline or austerity, regularity of study and practice and self surrender to a higher power.

Actually these are defensive measures developed by Pathanjali Maharshi. According to him whatever actions and thoughts help to establish the calmness of the mind are to be considered 'good', and those which distract from it are bad. These practices must be understood, appreciated, and sincerely followed by every student.

Asana: This is the art of yogic posture. Through the practice of correct posture, energy will move smoothly through the channels and physiological, psychological, and spiritual benefits are derived. By sitting straight, we allow the organs to function best. By keeping the spinal column erect the kundalini energy is not obstructed. When one is spiritually uplifted, this rises from basic chakra to the crown chakra. The practices which are intended to arouse that energy in the spinal column can only be undertaken when the yogis posture is perfected.

For meditation one should have a seat which is neither too hard or too soft. The waist, chest, neck and head should be held in a straight line, the body being supported by the diaphragm.

Pranayama: Prana means energy or Ki and Yama means control. The human body is the greatest receptacle for energy and when that energy is controlled, anything can be accomplished.

The most tangible expression of prana is found in our breathing. While it is linked with this most vital function of the body, it is not the breath. By regulating and controlling prana within himself, as expressed in his breathing, the yogi brings within his power the other phases of prana working in the microcosm. In that way he is gradually able to control his inner nature. Hence a student of rajayoga primarily practices to regulate and control the motion of his breathing. That primarily, is what is known as "pranayama".

Pratyahara: This is the art of centralization ( to bring back to oneself ). You must practice to concentrate your mind. Decide upon an idea, a picture or a symbol like OHM or reiki master symbol and try to fix your mind on that without thinking of anything else. It requires regular and constant practise to draw the mind together. One must practice regularly every day at the same time.

Dharana: it is the retention or holding together of the collected consciousness for some time. You have to hold the focused mind on the object of your meditation. Do not let it go away.

Dhyana or Meditation: A continuous stream of "image making" is called meditation. When you are in the stage of dhyana, your mind will flow in a constant stream into the form of the object of meditation.

Samadhi: when we meditate on the self within, we draw the universe into ourselves. Or the self is expanded into the infinite. Samadhi is the result of the preceding three practices of prathyahara, dharana and dhyana. Samadhi means revelation. This is the stage of highest illumination. You know that you were always that divinity, & that perfection. The complete realization of that comes during the highest samadhi, which may be said to be the reaping of the harvest of rajayoga.

POWER OF KUNDALINI

This is not a part of the traditional or modern reiki. But as a spiritual practitioner you should know its basics and importance.

One of the most secret and sacred of all yoga practices RAJA YOGA deals with the awakening of the mysterious power of kundalini or the serpent power. It is very dangerous to attempt and accomplish this without the help of a Guru.

The universal life force energy or prana is the energy which exists in fluidic form in the atmosphere- and is present in everything that lives, from amoeba to man. The air water plants minerals food, all are made with this life substance and is the source of all life energy, vitality and power.

This is the real occult center of the body because it encloses the secret dormant energy called Kundalini which is symbolized by "a snake coiled three and a half times". [Compare it with the power symbol of reiki- Cho Ku rei]

According Rajayoga there are three important nadis. They are sushumna, Ida and pingala. Sushumna is the chief nadi located inside the spinal cord with ida and pingala spiraling on either side. Taking root in the lowest center of cosmic energy "Mooladhara" or the basic chakra , it extends to the highest center situated in the top of the head , "The Sahasrara chakra" or the Crown chakra.

The is also called the joining of "Siva Sakthi' .

Reiki in Kerala
Kerala is India's most advanced state in terms of education, literacy and health. In fact, Kerala has the highest physical Quality of Life Index too. The age old wanderlust of the people of Kerala has taken them to virtually every nation on the face of this earth. The influence of Adi Sankara who was born at Kalady in Kerala during the seventh or eight century is also very strong. He, who was the exponent of the Advaita Philosophy, revived the Brahminic religion in the whole of India.
Almost 15 years have passed since reiki came into Kerala. Now reiki is spreading very fast, and we have at least 2 or 3 reiki masters [traditional and non traditional] in every district of kerala. A number of Homeopathic and Ayurvedic practitioners have started practicing reiki in kerala, and a number of people have started reiki clinics in villages and in rural areas. Many psychologists are also adding reiki to their practice, due to the powerful emotional healing technique of second degree reiki.

"from whom the whole universe come in to being
to whom we owe the existence of our body and mind, try to know thee and thee alone. That is the way to bliss, that is the way to immortality.
Ohm peace, peace, peace be unto all"
